This page features images taken during my recent trip to Melbourne and this is specially dedicated to my good Malaysian friend, Shafar Jamaludin who has left Brunei to take up new challenges (tah karang!). He is now in Japan and working with http://www.seagaia.com. Last year we were in Melbourne promoting Brunei as new Incentive destinations for corporate clients and events. I knew he misses Melbourne very much especially the “Greek Restaurant”. And Shafar we have a bad news for you!!! We have found another new Italian Restaurant at a new location, they serves good pastas, pizzas and you name it, it’s all there!!! So Bon Appetite !!! and Shafar another good news, for this trip we did not encounter people asking for sigup.. Hahaha .. Buleh Kali Ahh!!!…

A group of 20 shutterbugs participated in the Macro outdoor photography session organised by the GemilangFoto at the Sungai Liang Recreational Park last Sunday.

SHANGHAI, CHINA
|
|
I joined the tour group for a Muslim tour programme to Shanghai & Beijing. Our itinerary are visiting the silk & jade factories, masjid-masjid and interesting places in Shanghai. I really enjoyed this trip as it was fully arranged by a muslim tour operator, whereby all our meals are HALAL. The population of muslim all over China is 21 Millions. For Chinese Muslim, they called themselves HUI-HUI. The images here are only normal shots. I don't have time to think on creative shots. Anyway, love to share what I've seen in Shanghai.

Puerto Princesa is situated in the island of Palawan which can be reached by 45minutes domestic flight from manila. It can best be described as just another Filipino backwater, a gateway to the resorts on the island, really. For an interesting day trip, don't miss the St. Paul Subterranean River National Park, a unique underwater river and a fascinating natural resource worth the trouble. However, it's a very rugged and a long day trip.
Puerto Princesa was named after Princess Eulalia of Spain who was daughter of the reigning monarch, Queen Isabella II. The city is 106 kilometers long and is the largest city in the Philippines. It is a melting pot of many cultures. Total inhabitants number around 175,000. The predominant local tounge is Cuyumo. However Tagolog, Visayan and English are widely spoken.
Palawan is also known for having good fresh seafood, so this is another new and good destinations for people likes me who doesn’t take the non-halal meals. Friends called me “CrabMan”. Well I don’t care, as long my tummy is full.
So Guys & gals, fasten yr seat belt, and enjoy the show!!

Gemilang Foto trip to Bukit Subok Recreational Park

Gemilang Foto trip to Bukit Subok Recreational Park (Borneo Bulletin, March06, 2006)
About 30 photography enthusiasts took part recently in an outdoor event organised by Gemilang's Photography Club (Gemilang Foto) at Bukit Subok Recreational Park in BSB.
Their main objective was to take shots of Kg Ayer's sceneries before, during and after the sunset.
The programme began with a briefing on photography techniques and camera settings by Alirahim Hj Abd Rani.
Bukit Subok Recreational Park is a small recreational area located on the ridge of Bukit Subok.
The park, which has a number of vantage points, offers magnificent views of Kg Ayer, the Brunei River and - on a clear day - Mount Mulu in Sarawak.
There are also concrete walkways and viewing huts within the park.
"It is an exciting photo outing, as you need to climb a lot of steep stairs in order to get to the top and of course, that means you are also doing some exercise," said one of the participants.
After their session at Bukit Subok, the group later joined and experienced the Night River Cruise over Brunei River on pontoon boats. It is another new feature operated by AA Dolphin Dive for tourists.
After getting such exposure on the tour, it is hoped that the photographers got some good pictures to promote their works or add to their collection.
Also present at the visit was the President of Gemilang Association, Dr Hj Amzah Hj Abd Rahman.

BRUNEI'S 2006 COUNTDOWN
|
|
Assalammu’alaiikum… Happy New Year 2006. This is my 1st. shot for the year 2006 and was taken at around 12a.m on 1st.January 2006. I was at The Empire Hotel & Country Club to witness the firework display, which they claims to be the biggest firework show in Brunei. So, I set-up my equipments & tripod from this angle and hope when the show begin I get a good shot of the firework with the hotel’s main building as the foreground.
Then…BOMM!!! BOMM!!! BOMM!!! At 12:30 a.m the show begins. What happened was, my angle s**k!!!, from my viewfinder I couldn’t see the fireworks, as they fired the firework far apart from the hotel’s building and towards to the sea.
So now change in plan, I need to take the firework with the foreground, I saw a nearby photographer, then this is the image.
But one thing sometime he moves and makes his Silhouettes become blurry. Then the hotel's staff pass by on a buggy, I stopped him, and got it, a shot of an emptied buggy..hehhe
Brunei celebrated the New Year countdown in a simple way, however few Malaysian artists were invited for the show, they are Mawi, Aznil
Felix, Marsha, Amelya
Sheila Majid and family. So where's Sheila Majid? she's covered by her hubby's body lahh, you know how cute & petite she is..
And my favourite singer..Dayang...., Dayang I hope one day I'll beocme your official concert photographer in Brunei...
